August 3, 2021

WHITE PLAINS, MD – This evening, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) attended Charles County National Night Out, where he spoke with Fifth District families and law enforcement officials about the importance of community building and protecting the safety of Charles County residents.

"I was glad to attend this evening's National Night Out event in White Plains and join with families throughout Charles County in working to build strong relationships between local law enforcement and the communities they proudly serve," said Congressman Hoyer. "In Charles County and across the state of Maryland, it is critical that we foster relationships between members of our community and the police, and National Night Out events allows us to do so under positive circumstances."

"Every day, Fifth District law enforcement officers put on their uniforms and go to work to protect our communities," continued Congressman Hoyer. "I appreciate the officers and residents who showed up tonight in this act of solidarity. It's critically important that we continue to work to build strong relationships between law enforcement and families in our state. I thank the hard work of Sherriff Troy Berry, Commissioner Reuben Collins, Crime Prevention Supervisor Charles McCue, and everyone serving in public safety and law enforcement in Charles County for organizing this year's National Night Out."
