Hoyer Statement on Resignation of GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini
I join in thanking Administrator Tangherlini for his successful tenure leading the General Services Administration.

The Fifth Congressional District is home to thousands of federal employees and retirees, both military and civilian. Congressman Hoyer is proud to represent them and has led the fight on issues important to public servants, including securing fair pay and benefits, with a strong focus on ensuring pay parity between military and civilian personnel.
Congressman Hoyer has consistently opposed efforts to reduce the wages, benefits, and hours of federal employees in a misguided attempt by some to bring down our nation’s deficit on the backs of middle-class families. Federal employees have already contributed more than $182 billion toward deficit reduction through freezes to cost-of-living-adjustments and changes to retirement benefits.
Throughout his career, Congressman Hoyer has also advocated for quality health care coverage, a solid retirement system, and fair working conditions for federal employees in Maryland and throughout the country.
I join in thanking Administrator Tangherlini for his successful tenure leading the General Services Administration.
I'm proud to cosponsor the FAIR Act, which would provide a 3.8% pay raise to help our federal employees keep up with cost-of-living increases.
The President's decision to provide a 1 percent pay adjustment in 2015 to members of both the uniformed and civil services is a recognition of the principle of pay parity which I have long championed.
I was pleased to join NARFE members today to express my gratitude for their service to our country and to discuss some of the pressing issues affecting our federal retirees.
The opening of this laboratory complex represents the federal government's commitment to investing in biodefense – and its continued confidence that Maryland is the best place to do it
As we mark thirteen years since the heinous attack on our country on September 11, we come together to remember the 2,977 Americans who were taken from their families, friends, and communities. In the Fifth District, we offer the families affected our thoughts, our prayers, and a promise that their loved ones who were lost on that tragic day will never be forgotten.
We gather in remembrance today of twelve lives taken from their families, from our communities, and from our country on September 16, 2013 at 8:20am – twelve years and five days since 9/11.
I'm pleased the House passed this legislation today, which makes important investments at military installations in and around the Fifth District and provides additional resources to the men and women who bravely served our nation in uniform.
Today, I joined the Prince George's County business community to discuss developments in our county and efforts on the federal level to help support the growth of local businesses.
Mr. Chairman, Mr. Vice-Chairman, and members of the Committee, I am pleased to be here today to offer my support for H.B. 1168.
