Hoyer, (D-MD) today reviewed the security measures in place to keep Constellation's Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, the Dominion Cove Point LNG facility and the communities surrounding each facility protected. Rep. Hoyer was given a tour of Calvert Cliffs and watched a demonstration of the security exercises employed by the Coast Guard on the Chesapeake Bay. Major funding for several projects important to Marylands environment and economy is contained in the fiscal year 2006 Interior Appropriations Conference Report, agreed to in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, that was passed by the House of Representatives today. The funding will help to preserve Southern Marylands historic tobacco barns, it will benefit the Alice Ferguson Foundation in Prince Georges County, and will provide critical funds to clean up the Chesapeake Bay and the Anacostia River.
