I was glad to join the Prince George's County Council this afternoon and share with them some of the action Democrats have taken in Congress to improve the lives of Marylanders throughout the Fifth District.
Once again, this President is trying to circumvent Congress and our Constitution by appointing someone as acting head of an agency who would not be confirmed by the Senate to that post and who is grossly unqualified for it.
As we celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month, I am proud to bring the American Dream and Promise Act to the House Floor today to protect Dreamers and those with Temporary Protected Status and Deferred Enforcement Departure and ensure they can remain in the communities they call home.
Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) and Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) wrote to the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr. Robert R. Redfield, urging an evaluation of current CDC guidelines for adenovirus outbreaks.
We are thankful to NOAA, the Partners for Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, and the dedicated volunteers who have been focused on protecting Mallows Bay and expanding public accessibility of a unique national historical landmark.
Rebuilding our aging infrastructure systems remains a top priority of Democrats in Congress, and I appreciated the opportunity to discuss some of the infrastructure challenges facing the Fifth District.
