Hoyer Statement on Ruling Striking Down Portions of Executive Orders Attacking Federal Employees

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement after a federal district judge in Washington struck down significant portions of President Trump’s three executive orders attacking the federal workforce:

“Today’s ruling is a significant victory for federal employees. President Trump’s executive orders, which were issued in May under the guise of reforming the federal government, would have been devastating for the federal workforce by targeting hardworking civil servants and undermining the right of employees to engage in union activities on official time.

“Our dedicated federal employees protect and defend our nation, make certain our air and water are clean and food is safe, and ensure our veterans have access to the care they deserve, among many other important responsibilities. I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to support our federal workforce and provide them with the resources they need to do their jobs efficiently and effectively.”
