Regional Leadership Council Meets with OMB Director Shalanda Young, WH Officials

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Chair of the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) joined the rest of the RLC in a meeting with Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young and Director of White House Office of Legislative Affairs Louisa Terrell.  The conversation focused on how the council can best work with Directors Young and Terrell, OMB, and the rest of the Biden-Harris Administration to implement the historic laws that the 117th Congress enacted, including the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, and the Honoring our PACT Act.

Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries recently created the Regional Leadership Council and appointed Congressman Hoyer to serve as its Chair.  In addition to Congressman Hoyer, the council consists of twelve Members who each represent one of the United States' twelve regions.  The council will work to ensure that Americans in every corner of the country know and feel the impact of the transformative polices secured last Congress.

"Director Young and the Office of Management and Budget play a pivotal role in implementing policy," said Rep. Hoyer.  "I was pleased that she could meet with us today to discuss how the Regional Leadership Council can best collaborate on the implementation process and what our council can do to help it function even more effectively for Americans in every community, state, and region.  Similarly, I appreciated the insights shared by Director Louisa Terrell, whose leadership at the White House Office of Legislative Affairs remains essential to the broader implementation effort.  House Democrats' commitment to delivering results did not end when we helped enact these groundbreaking pieces of legislation last Congress.  We will continue working to ensure that the promises made through the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the other historic laws we secured in the 117th Congress are fulfilled and meeting the needs of working families nationwide.  I look forward to working closely with the council and the Biden-Harris Administration to demonstrate how Americans' taxpayer dollars are being used to create jobs, lower costs, and build a stronger, more prosperous America."
