Installation of Indoor Plumbing in Low-Income Charles County Homes Request: $1,000,000 Commissioners of Charles County 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland 20646 There are an estimated 250 homes in Charles County that lack indoor plumbing. This project will provide funds for the installation and rehabilitation of these homes so that all Charles County citizens will have decent and safe housing. The Housing Authority has already identified possible recipients and will work with local contractors who will provide services. Funds will also be used to assist with title/heired property issues so that a clear title can be obtained. This is a good use of taxpayer money because indoor plumbing is necessary to meet the basic needs of these underserved individuals. The new facility will increase available space by more than 50 percent and provide emergency shelter for individuals/families for up to 90 days to anyone living in Calvert, St. Mary's or Charles County.
